If you are under 18 years of age, there is strong possibility that the use of antidepressant medication might have an increased risk of suicidal thoughts at the initial stage. Consult with your doctor about this effect. While consuming this medication, you will have to be under observation for initial few weeks.
This observation will keep check of any worsening symptoms of depression or suicidal thoughts especially when the dose is changed. Your family and friends should check your mood swings and for other symptoms. Regular checkups are must for about 12 weeks from the start of the treatment.
Do not take Zoloft together with pimozide (Orap), or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate). Wait for at least 14 days once you have stopped taking MAOI before you can take Zoloft. |
